NORMAN, Okla. The University of Oklahoma softball team, picked No. 12/13 in the ESPN.com and USA Today preseason polls, has been selected to appear on ESPN five different times during the 2006 regular season.
In a battle of storied programs, ESPNU has selected the Oklahoma vs. UCLA game on Sunday, Feb. 26 at 1 p.m for its broadcast. The Sooners and Bruins will go head-to-head on the final day of the Palm Springs Classic in Palm Springs, Calif.
In conference action, Oklahoma will appear on ESPN with battles against Texas A&M and Texas, both picked in the top two spots of the Big 12 preseason poll, respectively.
The Sooners, selected to finish fourth in conference preseason poll, will travel to Texas A&M for a weekend series against the Big 12 defending champions in College Station, Texas. ESPN will air the 11 a.m. game on Saturday, April 8 and the 3:30 p.m. meeting on Sunday, April 9.
The following weekend, Oklahoma will host the annual Red River Rivalry against the Texas Longhorns. ESPNU has selected the Friday night (April 14) match up scheduled for 8 p.m. at the OU Softball Complex. The Saturday, April 15 game against UT is set for 12 p.m. and will air on ESPN.
In addition to the ESPN broadcasts, the final game in the Bedlam Series, brought to you by Bank of Oklahoma and your Oklahoma Ford Dealers, is also scheduled to be televised locally on Cox Wednesday, April 26 at 7 p.m.
Oklahoma’s radio broadcast schedule has also been finalized, which will feature 10 OU softball games that can be heard on the official flagship station for OU softball, KOKC 1520 AM and KRXO 107.7 FM. Two additional broadcasts will be available via the internet only. For the fourth consecutive season, Brian Brinkley will handle radio play-by-play duties for the Sooners.
