The Oklahoma women's soccer team won its second consecutive game Friday night as it defeated New Mexico, 1-0, on the first day of the Hampton Inn Lobo Invitational held at the UNM Soccer Complex in Albuquerque, N.M. With the victory, OU moved to 2-1 on the season while New Mexico fell to 2-1.

Oklahoma forward Heather Martinelli scored the game's only goal at the 25:51 mark. The goal, unassisted, was Martinelli's second of the year.

Sooner goalkeepers' Ayn Toppin and Jana Cunningham (four saves) combined on the shutout, OU's first of the season.

"I was really impressed with the way we controlled the game," said Oklahoma Head Coach Randy Evans. "The first half of tonight's game was the best half I've seen our team play since I've been at Oklahoma."

In the opening game of the Hampton Inn Lobo Invitational, Colorado College defeated Colgate, 1-0. Oklahoma's next game is Sunday at noon against Colorado College in Albuquerque.
