OU Set to Compete Against Kansas State

The University of Oklahoma men's golf team will compete in its final match of the fall season on Thursday, Oct. 17, at the Colbert Hills Golf Course in Manhattan, Kan. OU will challenge Kansas State in a dual match. The Sooners are coming off a third-place finish at the Pepperdine Club Glove Intercollegiate which was held on Oct. 4-5.

Sooner Golfers in the Rankings

OU is currently 19th in the Golf World collegiate rankings. Individually, senior John Kidwell (Dallas, Texas) was listed as one of the players to watch in the GolfWorld college preview. Kidwell earned medalist honors at the Sooner Invitational with a three-round total of 205 (-11).

The Oklahoma Lineup

Brodie Flanders (Fr., Vancouver, B.C.) - Making his third career start as a Sooner ... Finished tied for 31st at the William H. Tucker Intercollegiate... Shot a career-low 69 at the Sooner Invitational.

Martin Flores (Jr., Mansfield, Texas) - Making his 30th consecutive start for OU ... Has finished in the top-20 in two of the three tournaments this fall... Fired a career-low 66 at the Sooner Invitational... Finished the 2002 Big 12 Championship tied for 26th with a score of 222.

Parker Foster (Sr., Tulsa, Okla.) - Making his eighth career start for the Sooners ... Posted his best finish of the 2001 season at The Ridges Intercollegiate tying for 27th with a season-low 218...Was second among Sooner finishers at the 2001 Ping/Golfweek Preview tying for 37th with a total of 223.

John Kidwell (Sr., Dallas, Texas) - Making his 33rd start as a Sooner ... Shot a course-record 65 at the Sooner Invitational en route to winning the individual championship... Named Golf World Player of the Week Sept. 27 and Big 12 Golfer of the Month for September... Led OU in a team-best six tournaments last spring...Third-team All-American honors ... First-team All-Big 12.

Doug Manor (Sr., Garland, Texas) - Making his ninth career start for Oklahoma ... Shot a career-low 68 in the last round of the Carpet Capital Classic finishing tied for 10th, also a career-low... Finished tied for 23rd at the Sooner Invitational... Fired a then-career-low round of 69 in the second round of the 2002 NCAA regional.

Blake Martin (Jr., Stigler, Okla.) - Starting his seventh tournament for OU ... Shot a career-low 68 in the last round of the Carpet Capital Collegiate ... Shot a then-career-low 69 at the Sooner Invitational.

Jim Renner (Fr., Plainville, Mass.) - Starting his third tournament for OU ... Shot a career-low 70 at the Pepperdine Club Glove Intercollegiate while finishing tied for ninth, a team low.

Robert Stone (Fr., Dallas, Texas) - Starting in his second career tournament for the Sooners ... Finished tied for 23rd at the Sooner Invitational...During high school finished fifth at the AJGA Boys Championship, fourth at the AJGA Compaq Junior Classic at English Turn and sixth at the AJGA Texace in San Antonio.
