AUSTIN, Texas – 19th-ranked Oklahoma fell to No. 4 Texas Sunday, 6-1, at the Penick-Allison Tennis Center in Austin, Texas.

The Sooners (12-4, 0-2) came out strong in the doubles taking the No. 3 position early. Senior Blake Boswell teamed with freshman Lawrence Formentera to give the Sooners the advantage in doubles after downing UT’s Jean Andersen and Daniel Whitehead, 8-5. The duo has now won four-straight and boasts an 8-1 overall record.

However, that was all the Sooners could muster in doubles as Texas (18-2, 2-0) grabbed wins at the No. 1 and 2 positions to claim the point.

In singles, OU’s only point came at the No. 2 position where junior Ionut Beleleu claimed victory over 12th-ranked Ed Corrie. Beleleu took the first set, 7-6, but dropped his following set 0-6. In the third set, Beleleu could not be stopped as he rolled over Corrie, 6-2. Beleleu's win over Corrie marks the highest ranked win of his career. His previous highest win was over the nations No. 16-ranked player at the ITA All-American tournament in the fall

Despite the loss, two Sooners, senior Andrei Daescu and Formentera, took their bouts to three sets before ultimately dropping each match the Longhorns.

Next up, Oklahoma steps out of Big 12 play to travel up I-44 to battle in-state foe Tulsa Thursday, April 1, at 5 p.m.
