NORMAN, Okla. -- The University of Oklahoma women's gymnastics team will be facing its toughest competitor so far this season when it takes on No. 5 Nebraska Saturday at 7:30 p.m in Lincoln.

The Sooners are coming off a tri-meet victory last Saturday in Denton, Texas. OU finished with a 196.225, its highest point total of the year, and defeated Texas Woman's University (191.600) and Wisconsin-Eau Claire (173.450). Junior Leticia Ishii won her third all-around in four meets with a season-high 39.450 as well as a first-place finish on the balance beam (9.900). Ishii's efforts earned her Big 12 Gymnast of the Week.

While OU opens its Big 12 season against the Cornhuskers, NU's already 2-0 in the Big 12 (4-1 overall). Last Saturday, Nebraska defeated Missouri in Columbia with the help of a school-record 197.025 final point tally. NU is led by sophomore A.J. Lamb and freshman Alecia Ingram. Lamb is currently the country's top-ranked gymnast on the balance beam with an average of 9.900 while Ingram is No. 2 on the vault (9.887).

The last time Oklahoma defeated a top 10 team was Feb. 20, 2000, when it beat No. 8 Iowa State in Norman.

Nebraska defeated the Sooners twice last year and leads the all-time series, 18-8.
