Men's 4xMile Finishes Fourth at Penn

PHILADELPHIA - The University of Oklahoma's George Alex, Eric Harasyn, Patrick Casey and Riley Mastersfinished fourth in the Penn Relays men's 4xmile Championship of America event with a time of 16 minutes, 22.04 seconds on Saturday afternoon. Masters ran a 4:02.0 anchor leg to pass Oregon on the final lap to finish fourth. Alex ran the third fastest first leg at 4:10.3 as OU interchanged the lead with the majority of the field for a large portion of the race.

The men's 4x200-meter relay team of Eric Cray, Jamel Wood, Evan Pierson and Marcus Anderson ran 1:25.08 to finish eighth in the Championship of America section of the event. Tre Lathan took sixth in the men's 110-meter hurdles college championship with a time of 14.01 seconds.

Molly Ferguson (4:27.36) and Kelsey Brown (4:27.92) closed out competition for the Sooners at the Drake Relays in Des Moines, Iowa in the women's 1,500-meter run. OU also had several athletes competing at the Bobcat Classic hosted by Texas State.

The Sooners got a pair of victories in San Marcos with Sherine Wells winning the women's 100-meter dash (11.61) and Wayne Walls taking top honors in the men's triple jump with a wind-aided mark of 51 feet and three quarters of an inch. Shawna Anderson made it a 1-2 sweep for OU in the women's 100 with her second-place finish (11.88). Anderson was OU's top finisher in the 200-meter dash, clocking a time of 24.33. Claire McConnell ran a collegiate-best 24.67 in the 200.

Ashley Kowalewski threw a collegiate-best 132-3 in the women's javelin throw to take second. She was one of six Sooners with runner-up finishes on the day. Matt Wicks won his heat of the men's 110-meter hurdles and took second overall.

Whitney Johnson was second in the women's triple jump with a wind-aided 51-0.75, and Shelleyeka Rolle was second in the 400-meter dash with a collegiate-best 54.74. Jacy Bennett was second in the women's pole vault, while Morgan Nichols was fourth. Seth Lewandowski set a new collegiate-best in the men's pole vault, clearing 15-3. Kristen Rice was third in the women's high jump, while McConnell was sixth.

The Sooners have three runners competing at the Payton Jordan Invitational in Stanford, Calif., on Sunday. Oklahoma's final meet before the Big 12 Outdoor Track and Field Championships is scheduled for Friday, May 4 at the Arkansas Twilight.
