NORMAN, Okla. - The University of Oklahoma women's golf team hosts the 31st Susie Maxwell Berning Classic April 5-6 in Norman, its final regular season tournament of the season. A 15-team field will compete at the 6,013-yard, par-72 Jimmie Austin OU Golf Club.
The Sooners welcome Arkansas-Little Rock, Baylor, Bucknell, Creighton, Kansas, Kansas State, North Texas, Oklahoma City University, Oral Roberts, Redlands Community College, SMU, Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, UTEP and Wichita State to the annual tournament.
Oklahoma hopes to repeat their performance in last year's Susie Maxwell Berning Classic, as OU recorded its third championship of the 2007-2008 season with a three-round 885 (+21).
"I expect our team to be the low round of the tournament as well as win," OU coach Carol Ludvigson said. "Windy conditions are expected and will change a few key holes, so we need to stick to our strategy and play smart."
Sooner Kendall Dye recorded her first collegiate individual win at the Susie Maxwell last year with a three-round 214 (-2). This weekend will mark the final time the senior plays in the annual tournament in Norman.
Dye, an Edmond, Okla., native, has finished in the top-25 in every compeition this season, including three top-10 finishes. She reserves the No. 1 lineup spot for OU after a 15th-place finish at last week's MountainView Collegiate, her 18th career top-20 finish.
Taking the No. 2 spot in the Oklahoma lineup is sophomore Ellen Mueller. The Evansville, Ind., native has competed for the Sooners in every event this season. At the Windy City Collegiate, she fired a three round score of 220, a new personal 54-hole tournament record en route to a third place finish, her second career top-5 honor.

Freshman Kelly Short returns to the Sooner lineup for the seventh time in her short career at the No. 3 spot. In her second collegiate tournament, Price's "Give `Em Five" Intercollegiate, the Muncie, Ind., native nabbed her first top-10 finish (tied for eighth) with a 225 total.
Junior Chelsey Collins is competing for the Sooners in the fourth slot after tying her season-low round of 76 at the MountainView Collegiate. This will be her fourth time to take up the links this season.
Rounding out the scorecard this week for OU is Ryanne Elmer, a junior who has made her way into the Sooner lineup late this season. She tied her season-low 79 in the final two rounds of the MountainView Collegiate last week.
Competing individually for the Sooners are junior Andrea Sellmeyer, senior Staci Smoot, freshman Brooke Collins and sophomore Sara Hemingway.
The Sooners hope to use the home tournament to build confidence for the postseason.
"We need to use this to gain momentum for the Big 12 Championship," Ludvigson said. "We need our 4th and 5th players to make a difference and not take anything for granted. Anything can happen. We must take care of ourselves and just think about beating the golf course and everything else will fall into place."
A shotgun start at 8 a.m CDT will begin day one's 36-hole format. The final 18 holes will be played on Monday, also scheduled to commence at 8 a.m.
