Norman, Okla. - The University of Oklahoma women's basketball team enters the 2002-03 season with an Associated Press Preseason national ranking of No. 22. This mark extends Oklahoma's consecutive weeks in the AP top 25 to 50, dating back to Jan. 17, 2000. The poll is voted on by national media members and was released Monday.

OU Head Coach Sherri Coale returns six letterwinners and one starter from the 2001-02 NCAA Final Four team, including NCAA All-West Regional and All-Big 12 third teamer Caton Hill and All-Big 12 Tournament team selection Dionnah Jackson. With this group, Oklahoma returns 29.6 percent of its scoring, 35.6 percent of its rebounds and 36.5 percent of its assists from last year's NCAA runner-up team.

Fellow Big 12 members Kansas State (No. 5), Texas Tech (No. 7), Texas (No. 11) and Iowa State (No. 23) also appear in the poll. More ranked Oklahoma foes include Tennessee (No. 2), Connecticut (No. 4), Stanford (No. 6) and North Carolina (No. 13).

OU will hold its first of two exhibition games on Tuesday, Nov. 5 against Oklahoma Christian at the Lloyd Noble Center. Oklahoma plays Solna of Sweden in its second exhibition action on Nov. 14.

The Sooners open the regular season Nov. 10 at No. 2 Tennessee as part of the State Farm Tip-Off Classic on ESPN in Knoxville, Tenn., at 3 p.m. EST.
