NORMAN, Okla. - The University of Oklahoma men's golf team concluded the first round of the Puerto Rico Classic tied for 14th place in Palmer, Puerto Rico on Sunday. The Sooners finished the day with a team score of 316 (+28) and are tied with three other schools. The tournament leader is N.C. State, who shot an even-par 288 in the first round. The tournament is being played on the River Course (par 72, 6,945) at the Westin Rio Mar Country Club.

OU was led by junior Blake Martin (Stigler, Okla.) who shot an opening round 78 (+6) and is tied for 51st place. One shot behind Martin is freshman Jim Renner (Plainville, Mass.) and junior Martin Flores (Mansfield, Texas), who carded first round scores of 79 (+7) and are tied for 58th place.

Rounding out the scoring for the Sooners is senior John Kidwell (Dallas, Texas) and junior Doug Manor (Garland, Texas), who each shot an opening round score of 80 (+8) and are tied for 67th place.

The Sooners begin second-round action Monday morning.
