With the victory, Oklahoma advanced to its seventh Sweet 16. The Sooners are 19-11 overall in the NCAA Championship with a 7-3 record in the second round and 1-5 record in the regional semifinals.
Oklahoma will play fourth-seeded Pittsburgh, time to be determined, Sunday, March 29, at the Ford Center in Oklahoma City for the regional semifinal. The game will be televised nationally on ESPN2 HD and begin at approximately 9 p.m. Central.
Oklahoma improves to 30-4 on the season. OU’s 30-win season is its third in history (32-4 in 2002, 31-5 in 2006).
Courtney Paris has blocked at least one shot in 46 consecutive games. Paris moved to third all-time on the NCAA career blocks list with 434 total.
Oklahoma’s seniors became the winningest ever in Big 12 history, compiling a 111-23 record over their careers.
It was the third game this season in which Courtney Paris did not achieve a double-double. OU won each of those games by double-digits.
Starting guards Whitney Hand and Danielle Robinson scored 32 of Oklahoma’s 60 points. It was their best combined effort from the field since scoring 37 in the win against Tennessee.
