NORMAN, Okla. - Following the first day of competition at The William H. Tucker Intercollegiate in Albuquerque, N.M., the University of Oklahoma men's golf team is in fifth place as it posted rounds of 291 and 291 for a total of 582 (+6). The Sooners trail fourth-place Texas Tech by only one stroke entering Saturday's final round. New Mexico is the tournament leader having shot a two-round score of 569 (-7).

Senior Doug Manor and junior Martin Flores led OU and are tied for eighth place at one-under par. Manor shot an opening-round 70 and turned in a second-round 73 for a total of 143. Flores shot a 71 in the first round and finished out the day with a second round of 72.

Three shots behind Manor and Flores was freshman Brodie Flanders who stands tied for 24th. Flanders posted two rounds of 73 to finish at two-over par. Senior John Kidwell improved on his first-round score of 77 with a second-round 73 to finish the day tied for 48th.

Freshman Jim Renner is tied for 83rd after shooting a 156 (+12) and freshman Robert Stone rounded out the scores for OU with a 157 and is tied for 87th.

The Sooners, ranked 21st nationally by GolfWorld, resume play Saturday morning at the UNM Championship Golf Course.
