NORMAN, Okla. -- The University of Oklahoma women's tennis team loss, 8-1 to No. 8 Texas Sunday afternoon at the Santa Fe Club in Oklahoma City. Ranked 62nd in the latest ITA rankings, the Sooners drop to 3-3 on the season, while Texas goes to 4-0.

Texas led 2-1 after doubles play but OU's Viviana Mracnova (Zvolen, Slovakia) and Angela Stroup (Tulsa, Okla.) upset Texas' sixth-ranked and top doubles pair in Janet Walker and Kaysie Smashey, 8-6. The win pushed Mracnova's and Stroup's doubles record to 5-2. It was only the third loss, 7-3, for UT's Walker and Smashey.

The Horns have not lost a conference match dating back to April 12, 1991, when the team suffered a 5-4 setback to TCU in Southwest Conference action. The 101 consecutive wins rank Texas second on the current conference win list, following Duke's 112-straight wins.

Oklahoma returns to action on Wednesday, March 1, when the Sooners host Central Region rival Tulsa in a 1:30 p.m. match in Norman.
