NORMAN, Okla. - The Oklahoma softball team opens fall play this weekend with its annual Fall Festival held at the OU Softball Complex.  The Sooners will play four games beginning with a doubleheader on Saturday followed by another doubleheader on Sunday.  OU will match up against Southern Nazarene University at 12:00 p.m. and 2:15 p.m. on Saturday.      OU was originally slated to play SNU at 2:15 p.m. and Washburn at 4:30 p.m., but the times were changed because Washburn could not attend due to travel concerns.

In Sunday’s action, OU will face Eastern at 2:30 p.m. followed by a contest against Northwest Oklahoma State at 4:45 p.m.

As a special opportunity for Sooner fans, all of OU’s games in the Fall Festival will be carried on a radio broadcast.  The OU radio broadcast will be aired on KBLP (105.1 FM) with Jason Wollenberg calling the play-by-play and former Sooner standout Kami Keiter providing the color analysis.  Keiter, a four-time All-Big 12 pitcher, led the Sooners to a NCAA Regional 14 Championship last season.

The Sooners return 13 letterwinners and nine starters from the 2005 squad that won the NCAA Regional 14 Championship and finished second in the Big 12 Conference.  Headlining the returnees are senior Kristin Vesely and junior Norrelle Dickson, 2005 All-Americans for the Sooners.

Fans will also get the opportunity to get their first look at six true freshman on the squad.  Among the six newcomers are hurlers D.J. Mathis (left-handed) and Morgan Hudsonpillar (right-handed) with infielders Traci Dickenson and Jessica Legendre.  Samantha Ricketts will play behind the plate while Jeannie Douglas will be used as a utility player.
