TULSA, Okla. -- Andrei Daescu defeated Sinisa Markovic of Texas Tech, 6-7(4), 6-4, 6-1, in the first round of qualifying at the 2007 Polo Ralph Lauren ITA All-American Championships in Tulsa, Okla.

Daescu, advances to the second round Tuesday at the Case Tennis Center on the campus of the University of Tulsa, where he will face Sebastian Serrano of East Tennessee State, at 9 a.m.

No. 9 Benjamin Carlotti of North Carolina defeated Federico Chavarria, 6-1, 6-2, and Matthias Wellermann of Mississippi defeated Rob McKenzie, (4-6), 6-4, 6-1.  Both players have been eliminated from the qualifier.

Three matches must be won in each round (singles and doubles) to advance to the following round.
