NORMAN, Okla. The Big 12 is celebrating its 10th Anniversary of athletic competition during the 2005-06 season. In an effort to recognize this milestone, the conference and its member schools are selecting special 10th anniversary teams for all sports, including baseball and softball.
All of the nominees selected to the ballot are either an All-Big 12 First Team selection, a Big 12 Player of the Year or a former All-American.
The Oklahoma softball team boasts 20 Sooners on the ballot, including current Sooners Norrelle Dickson and Kristin Vesely. Joining Dickson and Vesely are former Sooners Kelli Braitsch, Lisa Carey, Casey Dickson, Christina Enea, Leah Gulla, Lynette Velazquez, Erin Evans, Angie Holwell, Rachel Johnson, Christy Ring, Andrea Davis, Nicole Myers, Lana Moran, Jennifer Stewart, Jill Most, Kami Keiter, Ashli Barrett and Heather Scaglione.
Thirteen former players and one current Sooner in the baseball program are eligible on the ballot and include: Russell Raley, Brian Shackelford, Casey Bookout, Javier Flores, Geoff Geary, Corey Hart, Willy Hill, Derek Wathan, Jeff Bajenaru, Jason Bartlett, Greg Dobbs, Jason Franz, Eddie Cornejo and Jarod McAuliff.
