NORMAN, Okla.-- The University of Oklahoma women’s golf team will tee off Monday, Sept. 18 in its second tournament of the fall season at the Jeannine McHaney Invitational in Lubbock, Texas. The tournament is hosted by Texas Tech University and will be played at the 72-par, 6,384-yard Rawls Course.
With one tournament and a third-place finish behind them, the Sooners look to continue strong with this week’s lineup. Kelly Jacques, Kendall Dye, Staci Smoot, Megan Goodwin and Jaclyn Stelzer will be competing for the Sooners. True freshman Andrea Sellymeyer and junior Sydney Lee will compete as individuals.
“I feel very confident in whom we are playing,” said OU head coach Carol Ludvigson. “I think that even after this tournament giving Andrea and Sydney a chance to play will give us more insight into what they can do under pressure. I am really looking forward to seeing them compete. I feel Kelly and Kendall could easily vie for the top individual spot.”
Golfers will play a 54-hole format. The first 36 holes will be played on Monday and the remaining will be played on Tuesday, Sept. 19.
The 16-field team includes Arkansas-Little Rock, Arkansas State, Florida International, Mississsippi, Oklahoma, Oral Roberts, Redlands CC, Sam Houston, San Francisco, SMU, TCU, UTEP, Texas-San Antonio, Texas Tech A, Texas Tech B and Western Michigan.
