Volleyball Announces Season Promotions

NORMAN, Okla. – The University of Oklahoma Athletics Marketing office has announced the 2011 volleyball promotions. The Sooners open the season Aug. 26-27 hosting the Nike Invitational with Welcome Back 2 School weekend. Free posters and schedule cards will be available and OU students have a chance to win prizes at Sooner Nation Kickoff Weekend.

Season tickets for the 2011 volleyball season are available for purchase online or by calling (405) 325-2424 or toll-free (800) 456-GoOU. Single-match tickets for all home volleyball matches go on sale Wednesday, Aug. 17.

OU's second home tournament features Hispanic Heritage Day and OU Faculty/Staff Night on Friday, Sept. 16 and Cheer Like a Champion Day on Saturday, Sept. 17.

The team’s annual Pledge for a Cure fundraiser for the Jimmy Everest Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders at the Children's Hospital at OU Medical Center is Wednesday, Sept. 28 against Texas when the Sooners and Longhorns meet on national television.

Other promotions for the year include 50-cent hot dogs and Cokes for the Sept. 6 match against Arkansas and free popcorn and small Cokes as long as supplies last against Missouri on Oct. 5.  

Fan appreciation day is Oct. 22 with free admission for all fans. Military Night is Nov. 19. The Sooners will honor the 2011 senior class on Nov. 23.
Post-match autographs are scheduled for Aug. 26, Aug. 29, Sept. 6, Sept. 16Oct. 15, Nov. 12 and Nov. 19.
