NORMAN, Okla. - Following the first day of competition at The Pepperdine Club Glove Intercollegiate in Somis, Calif., the University of Oklahoma men's golf team is currently in seventh place on Monday. The team posted rounds of 303 and 291 for a total of 594 (+18). Oklahoma's total tied New Mexico for the lowest score of the second round. The Sooners trail sixth-place BYU by only two strokes entering the final round tomorrow. Pepperdine is the tournament leader having shot a two-round score of 576 (E).

Freshman Jim Renner (Plainville, Mass.) led OU with rounds of 75 and 70, and is currently tied for 11th place. Renner's second round 70 was a career-low.

Two shots behind Renner was junior Blake Martin (Stigler, Okla.), who stands in 18th place. Martin posted rounds of 75 and 73 to finish at three-over par. Junior Martin Flores (Mansfield, Texas) improved on his first-round score of 76 with a second-round 74 to finish the day tied for 25th.

Senior John Kidwell (Dallas, Texas) is tied for 49th after shooting a 155 (+11) and junior Doug Manor (Garland, Texas) rounded out the scores for OU with a 160 and is tied for 58th.

The Sooners resume final round play Tuesday morning at the Saticoy Country Club.
