NORMAN, Okla. The University of Oklahoma women’s gymanstics team is reaching out to the community this month, volunteering at seven different elementary schools throughout the Norman area. Each squad member will be teaming up with an elementary school and assisting with different projects.
Senior’s Leah Muller and Kasie Tamayo will be assisting a fifth grade physical education class at Jackson Elementary school, specializing in jump rope techniques. While senior Karina Agafonova and junior Nicole Gause will team up to tutor third and fourth graders at Roosevelt Elementary.
A physical education program will be led by junior Erin LeBarr and sophomore Melissa Smith at Eisenhower Elementary. Sophomore’s Katie Hostler and Tara Anderson will look to improve their volleyball skills at Cleveland Elementary when they too will help with a physical education class.
Finally, sophomore Kristen Cox will brush up her Spanish skills when she assists a Spanish class at All Saints Private school and freshman Tiffany Willin and Brittney Koncak will work with first graders at Truman Elementary. They will be helping the children with reading and goal setting. And at Monroe Elementary, freshman Jillian Tinsley and Elizabeth Tandy will help with the physical education program.
