Sooners Place At Penn And Drake Relays

PHILADELPHIA, Pa.-- The Sooner men's 1600-meter relay ran the third fastest qualifying time in the prelims, a 3:06.03, to post a season best and beat the NCAA provisional standard in OU's second day of action at the 107th Penn Relays. Meanwhile, Kyle Bookout finished fourth in the discus at the 92nd Drake Relays.

Other Sooner results from the Penn Relays included a fifth-place finish by the women's 400-meter relay and a fourth-place finish in the men's shuttle hurdle relay. The men's 1600-meter relay will compete in the final on Saturday as will junior Jimyria Hicks who ran an 11.59 in the 100-meter dash prelims.

Senior Bambi Carson finished fifth in the discus in competition at Drake with a 157-7. Leslie Dunlap finished sixth in the pole vault and Michael McNamara was 12th in the men's pole vault.

OU will host the Oklahoma Outdoor on Saturday with the first event scheduled for 11 a.m. The Sooners also will have competitiors in the final day of both the Penn and Drake Relays.
