The Sooners had six individual winners led by George Alex, who became the first male runner to sweep the long distance races at the conference meet. Alex won the 10,000-meter run on Friday, May 11 and closed out the meet with a win in the 5,000-meter run on Sunday. He is also the first Oklahoma male to win a conference title in the 5,000-meter run.

Riley Masters won the 1,500-meter run on the final day in 3:43.17. Masters is the second Sooner to win a conference outdoor title in the men’s 1,500-meter run and the first in the Big 12 era. Randy Wilson won back-to-back conference championships in the event in 1978 and 1977.

Luke Bryant bookended his career with Big 12 titles in the discus with a throw of 202 feet, one inch. Bryant won his second title in the event and first since 2009. Bryant is the seventh OU male to win a conference discus title and the only one to do so in the Big 12 era. He joins program record holder Ed Wade as the school’s only multi-winner in the event. Wade won three discus titles in 1988, 1986 and 1985.

Brittany Borman won her second consecutive women’s javelin title on May 11. Borman won the event with a mark of 181-2 besting the previous R.V. Christian Track Complex by more than eight feet. Borman is the first Oklahoma female to win back-to-back conference titles in two different events since Kellie Cathey won the 10,000-meter run in 1983 and 1982 and the 5,000-meter run in 1982 and 1981. She is also the fifth Oklahoma female to win four or more individual conference titles in her tenure as a Sooner, joining Cathey, Kay Gooch, Jane Clough and Cecil Hansen on the list.

Tia Brooks won her first Big 12 outdoor shot put title May 12, breaking the Big 12 meet and Christian Track records in the process. Brooks threw 59-9.50 on her second and final attempts to sweep the conference indoor and outdoor titles in the event. Brooks, the national leader in the event, is the third Sooner female to win a conference title in the event and second in the Big 12 era, joining Karen Shump (2010) and Cecil Hansen (1978, 1979, 1980, 1981). Brooks is the 10th Big 12 female to sweep the conference titles in the shot put, also joining Shump who accomplished the feat in 2010.

Oklahoma had a total of 24 athletes score in 19 events. The Sooners also tallied points in all four relay events.
