NORMAN, Okla.-- The No. 31 Oklahoma women’s golf team will host No. 16 Oklahoma State in a dual match this Sunday at the Jimmie Austin OU Golf Course in Norman. The match-play event, named the Bedlam Cup, will mark the first dual between the in-state rivals since 1977.
Oklahoma has posted four top-two finishes in its nine tournaments this season, while Oklahoma State has finished in the top three in five events.
The squads will tee off at 8 a.m. with groups of four participating in an alternating-shot match-play competition (three matches featuring two players from each school). An afternoon round featuring one-on-one matches consisting of eight golfers from each team will begin at 1. The teams’ lineups will be announced Sunday morning.
“I’m really excited about the Bedlam Cup,” said OU head coach Veronique Drouin. “I think it will be a great event that will showcase both teams. This will provide great preparation for the postseason, which actually starts next Friday. This event is very different than any other ones we’ve played. It should be fun.
The Bedlam Cup is the last opportunity for OU fans to see the squad compete in the Norman area this season. Fans are encouraged to come out and support the Sooners with free admission.
OU and OSU will next head to the Big 12 Championship April 27-29 in Lawrence, Kan.
