Series record/last time:
This will be the first meeting between OU and William & Mary and George Mason.
Oklahoma picked up two easy wins last week to push its overall record to 11-1. OU swept Cameron, 7-0, and crushed regional opponent Southwest Missouri State, 6-1, at the OU Headington Family Tennis Center in Norman.
OU’s doubles continues to dominate as the Sooners won four of its six matches easily. In singles play, the Sooners took top honors in all but one match. Overall, OU is 64-6 in singles play.
Newcomers Making Statements:
Head coach Paul Lockwood knew what he was doing when he signed junior Ondrej Fukala (Prerov, Czech Republic), sophomore Lee Gregg (Altus, Okla.) and freshman Marek Velicka (Prerov, Czech Republic) to play for the Sooners. Velicka tops the team with a flawless 12-0 record, while Gregg (11-0) and Fukala (10-0) also are sporting perfect marks.
16-0 vs Region V:
OU has not last a match to Region V opponents this season. The Sooners are 16-0 individually when facing regional teams. In addition, OU’s No. 2, 3 and 6 singles spots are undefeated at 11-0, 12-0 and 11-0, respectively.
