NORMAN, Okla. – The 25th-ranked University of Oklahoma volleyball team dropped its fourth consecutive match Saturday evening, falling to Baylor in four sets (28-26, 25-27, 22-25, 22-25). The Sooners fell to 19-9 overall and 6-6 in Big 12 play. Baylor improved to 18-11 overall and 5-8 in conference matches.
Oklahoma got a career-high 15 kills from Carlee Roethlisberger and a match-high 19 kills from Suzy Boulavsky. Sallie McLaurin added 10 kills as the only other Sooner in double figures.
Roethlisberger was the only Sooner attacker not to commit an attack error, hitting .452 with 23 attempts. As a team OU committed 26 attack errors, its third most in a match this year. The Sooners hit .192, while the Bears connected for a .242 hitting percentage and committed 18 attack errors.
Brianne Barker returned to the lineup after leaving Wednesday evening’s match due to injury. Barker started and played all four sets and registered her 20th double-double of the year with 43 assists and 20 digs.
Maria Fernanda led all players with 23 digs and Keila Rodriguez had a career-high 17. Roethlisberger led the front-row defense with four block assists, while Boulavsky added three. McLaurin added two as OU had six total blocks as a team.
Briana Tolbert led Baylor with 19 kills, while Zoe Adom added 15. Kate Harris paced the Bears to the .242 hitting percentage with 51 assists and 17 digs. Allison King added 21 digs as one five Baylor players with double figures. Torri Campbell led all players with five block assists and the Bears had seven total team blocks.
Oklahoma travels to Kansas Wednesday evening for a 6 p.m. CT matchup against the Jayhawks. OU returns home next Saturday, Nov. 19 to take on Texas A&M at 7 p.m. CT.
