NORMAN, Okla. – The University of Oklahoma volleyball team returns to the NCAA Division I Women’s Volleyball Championship for a second consecutive season. The Sooners (21-10) were selected to host first and second round action, beginning Friday in Norman. Tulsa and No. 13 seed LSU open action at 5 p.m. followed by OU and Wichita State at 7:30 p.m. CT. Friday’s winners advance to the sub-regional championship Saturday at 2 p.m. CT with a trip to the Sweet 16 in University Park, Pa. A live webcast and live statistics of all matches will be available free of charge at SoonerSports.com.
“Being selected to host is a great honor for us,” said Oklahoma head coach Santiago Restrepo. “It’s a great accomplishment for our program and university. We encourage Sooner Nation to come out and support us, and we’re excited about the challenge ahead.”
Oklahoma is making its seventh appearance in the NCAA Championship, its fourth trip under Restrepo. OU advanced to the tournament last season, 2007 and went to the Sweet 16 in 2006. Oklahoma previously went to the Big Dance in 1997, 1988 (Sweet 16) and 1987.
All-session tickets are now on sale online at www.SoonerSports.com. Phone orders will be accepted beginning Monday, November 29 at 8 a.m. The all-session ticket package includes one ticket for each session. There will be a total of two sessions. The first session will be on Friday, December 3 and will consist of two matches. One ticket is good for both games on Friday. The second session will be on Saturday, December 4 and will be one game only with the two winners from the first round competing for an opportunity to advance to the round of 16.
Prices are $16 for reserved lower level all-session tickets, $12 for general admission upper level all-session tickets and $8 for OU students (with valid ID), youth (three years old – high school) and senior citizens (55 years and older) upper level general admission all-session tickets. Children two years of age and under are admitted free. Orders will be processed on a first-come, first-served basis and are subject to availability.
If tickets remain, single session tickets go on sale the first day of competition at the McCasland Field House beginning 90 minutes prior to the first game on that day. Single session tickets are $10 for reserved lower level seats, $8 for upper level general admission and $5 for OU students, youth and senior citizen upper level general admission seats.
