NORMAN, Okla. - Oklahoma senior gymnast Mariana Goncalves was named Big 12 Gymnast of the Week for the fourth time this season, it was announced by the conference office today. Goncalves won the all-around against Arizona at home with a 39.550 to propel the Sooners to a 196.700 to 195.500 victory over the then-No. 12 Wildcats.

The Sao Paulo, Brazil, native placed first on the uneven bars (9.900), second on both the vault (9.950) and floor exercise (9.875) and tied for fourth on the balance beam (9.850). The Sooner ranks third nationally in the all-around, is fifth on the vault and tied for fifth on the bars.

"Mariana looked like her championship self last weekend," said OU head coach Steve Nunno. "She just looked fantastic on every event. She has earned every bit of the honors she has been receiving this season, and she has worked hard to get where she is now."

Goncalves was also named gymnast of the week on Jan. 22, Jan. 29 and Feb. 12. She leads the Big 12 in all-around scoring along with Iowa State's Shelly Kringen.

The sixth-ranked Sooners compete in their last regular season meet on Sunday, March 17, against Texas Woman's University at the Howard McCasland Field House. Meet time with the Pioneers is set for 2 p.m.
