NORMAN, Okla. – The University of Oklahoma volleyball program and marketing department officials have announced the promotions for the 2010 season. Among the highlights include the annual Pledge for a Cure event, the Year of the Fan game and Cheer Like a Champion night.
The Sooners open the 2010 season later this month with the Nike Invitational Aug. 27-28. The weekend also marks Sooner National Kickoff for OU students with Freshman Fun Day scheduled for the noon CT match on Aug. 28 and an “Eat the Canes” Challenge sponsored by Raising Cane’s for the 7 p.m. contest against Miami.
The annual Pledge for a Cure event is set for Wednesday, Sept. 22. Details regarding the event will be announced at a later time. To close out September, the Sooners welcome fans for the Year of the Fan match against Nebraska on Sept. 29.
OU faces Texas in a 6 p.m. contest on Wednesday, Oct. 13 on ESPNU. The first 500 fans through the door on Cheer Like a Champion night receive Sooner headbands.
OU students receive free pizza, as long as supplies last, for Wednesday evening games beginning Sept. 22. Meet the Greeks night is scheduled for Sept. 1. Students also have the chance to win a DJ Hero video gaming system at Student Night on Oct. 20.
Other events include military night (Oct. 9), faculty and staff night (Nov. 10), kids’ day (Nov. 20) and senior night (Nov. 27). The team will hold a kids’ clinic in conjunction with kids’ day on Nov. 20.
Fan appreciation days are set for Saturday, Oct. 30 and Saturday, Nov. 13. Both dates are free admission.
Season tickets for all ticketed matches are currently available online and by calling (405) 325-2424. Single game and group tickets for the upcoming season go on sale August 19th over the phone and online. Group tickets are $4 for groups 10-99 and $3 for groups of 100 or more.
