The University of Oklahoma men's golf team will compete in the 2003 ASU Thunderbird Invitational this Friday and Saturday (April 11-12 ) in Tempe, Ariz. The tournament will be played on the ASU Karsten Golf Course (par 72, 7,037). Hosted by Arizona State, the 54-hole tournament will consist of 36 holes on Friday and 18 holes on Saturday.

The Sooners, who will be seeing their first action in nearly a month, are looking to rebound from a 16th place finish at the Morris Williams Intercollegiate March 17-18 in Austin, Texas. The event marked just the second of the 2002-03 season that OU did not finish in the top 10. Junior Blake Martin's 14th-place finish was the team's best at the Morris Williams and his second best of the season. Freshman Jim Renner had finished in the top 12 in five straight tournaments prior to OU's visit to Austin (he finished 82nd).

Coached by Jim Ragan, Oklahoma is ranked 22nd in the most recent Precept Coaches Poll.
