OU Selected to Host 2013 NCAA Regional

NORMAN, Okla. -- The University of Oklahoma has been selected to host one of six 2013 NCAA Women's Gymnastics Regionals at the Lloyd Noble Center on April 6, 2013.

“The Women’s Gymnastics Committee was impressed with the number of quality bids submitted to host the 2012 and 2013 regional and national championships,” said Paul Plinske, chair of the Women’s Gymnastics committee. “We selected sites that will create an outstanding environment for our gymnasts and their fans. Women’s gymnastics is an exciting sport and we look forward to bringing these talented student-athletes to various cities around the country.”

The five other regional competitions will be held in Corvallis, Ore. (Oregon State), Gainesville, Fla. (Florida), Columbus, Ohio (Ohio State), Morgantown, W.V. (West Virginia) and Tuscaloosa, Ala. (Alabama).

Teams and all-around competitors advancing out of the regional championships will compete at the 2013 National Collegiate Women’s Gymnastics Championships, April 19-21, at the University of California, Los Angeles.

The Sooners are hosting the 2011 NCAA Women’s Gymnastics Norman Regional this Saturday, April 2 at 4 p.m.  OU earned the top-seed in the regional and will compete against No. 7 Utah, No. 17 Washington, New Hampshire, Missouri and North Carolina.
