Women's Gymnastics Team Knocks Off Texas Woman's

NORMAN, Okla. -- The University of Oklahoma women's gymnastics team defeated Texas Woman's University, 194.80 to 187.950, tonight at Lloyd Noble Center in Norman. OU took top honors in all events as it moved its record to 3-0 on the season. Texas Woman's fell to 2-2 on the year.

Senior Amber McCracken highlighted the competition, scoring a 39.350 in the all-around for the Sooners. OU's Ginger Russell (39.300) and reigning Big 12 Gymnast of the Week Leticia Ishii (38.875), finished second and third in the all-around, respectively.

McCracken won the vault event (9.850) and tied Ishii in the uneven bars (9.800) competition. Russell took first place in both the balance beam and floor exercise events. Russell's score of 9.875 on the floor tied her career high, while her 9.90 on the beam marked a career high.

Oklahoma also shattered its previous beam record of 49.050 set on March 22, 1997, by recording a 49.150 this evening.

OU will meet Nebraska next Friday, Feb. 4, at Lloyd Noble Center in Norman, at 7 p.m.
