LITTLE ROCK, Ark. -- The Sooner soccer team opened the spring exhibition slate on Saturday, Feb. 20 with a 1-0 win over Memphis in Little Rock, Ark.

Whitney Palmer tallied the game-winning goal in the second half and Dria Hampton provided the assist.

Oklahoma controlled the offensive tempo throughout the contest and created several goal-scoring opportunities, but Palmer was the lone Sooner to capitalize.

"I was very pleased with the number of chances we created on the offensive end, especially against a quality opponent like Memphis," said OU Head Coach Nicole Nelson.  "It was very positive to see us put together some attacking series this early in the spring."

Kelsey Devonshire posted the shutout over the Tigers, which was a top 25 team last fall.

In the second game of the day, Devonshire went back to work and blanked the Rebels in a 0-0 tie.

"To play two games in one day was a physical grind," added Nelson.  "Ole Miss is a good team and we showed a lot of fight in the second half.  Overall, I am happy with the progress we are showing."
