IRVING, Texas - University of Oklahoma senior gymnasts Hollie Vise and Jackie Flanery swept the weekly Big 12 awards, announced by the conference office Wednesday morning. Vise was named Gymnast of the Week for the first time in her career while Flanery shared this week's Event Specialist honors with Nebraska's Erin Davis, marking the third weekly accolade of Flanery's career. Vise had previously earned the Event Specialist award six times.
In her first collegiate all-around competition on "Senior Night" in Norman on March 12, Vise claimed a first place finish with a score of 39.600, a mark higher than all but one Big 12 gymnast on the year. The senior won titles on bars with a career-high score of 9.950 and also on beam with a 9.925, pushing her tally to 16 individual event crowns for the season. Vise posted another career high on vault (9.850) and scored a 9.875 on floor.
Flanery placed first on floor against No. 25 Washington with a score of 9.950 that received a perfect 10.00 from one judge, marking her eighth title in 10 meets on the apparatus this season. The Plattsburg, Mo., native also posted a pair of 9.80s on vault and bars against the Huskies.
Flanery currently ranks first nationally on floor with an RQS of 9.935, while Vise leads the NCAA on beam (9.925) and ranks third on bars (9.915).
Oklahoma closes its regular season slate at No. 6 Arkansas on March 19. The Sooners are 4-0 against top-10 opponents this season, including three victories over SEC foes ranked in the top 10.
OU defeated the Razorbacks 196.750-196.625 on March 15, 2008, in its last visit to Fayetteville, Ark., despite a then-program-record score from Arkansas. That Sooners' squad became the only team in the NCAA to finish the regular season with an unblemished record in 2008.
