AMES, Iowa -- The OU soccer team dropped its second straight game on Sunday, falling 2-0 at Iowa State.
The loss takes the Sooners' overall record to 4-4-2 and 0-2 in the Big 12. Iowa State upped its record to 6-1-2 overall and 2-0 in Big 12 play.
OU created plenty of scoring opportunities, including two shots on goal by senior Allyson Kucera, but could not find the back of the net for the third straight game. The Sooners were blanked by Nebraska in the Big 12 opener on Friday in Lincoln and tied Middle Tennessee last Sunday in Norman.
Despite firing 11 shots, including eight on goal, OU's offense was limited ISU's Ann Gleason, who made eight saves in the game.
Redshirt freshman goalie Tara Macdonald made her fourth consecutive start and allowed both goals while making five saves.
The Cyclones broke through in the 15th minute of the game when Elise Reed beat Macdonald to take a 1-0 lead.
ISU wasted little time after halftime and took a 2-0 lead just three minutes into the second half. Waddell chipped the ball over Macdonald's reach at the 48:09 mark to give ISU an insurance goal.
The Sooners will look to snap their two-game losing streak at home next week against Baylor on Thursday, Oct. 4 at 7 p.m. On Sunday, Oct. 7, OU will host No. 3 Texas A&M at 1 p.m. The Sooners are 3-0-1 this season at John Crain Field at the OU Soccer Complex.
