Complete List of Camp Selections

Carey joints a total of 30 players that have been selected to attend the Women’s National Team Camp including the 26 member National Training Team selected back in September of last year.

The World University Games selection camp will be held June 9-11 at the Olympic Training Center in Chula Vista, Calif., and will be followed by the Women’s National Team camp June 13-17. The Women’s National Team will represent the United States at three events this year including the II World Cup of Softball in Oklahoma City, Okla., the only National Team event held on American soil.

Dickson is no stranger to USA Softball as she was a member of the 2004 USA Elite Team that won the first World University Softball Championship.  Additionally, she played for TEAM USA at the ISF Junior World Championships in 2003.  The left fielder is currently leading the Big 12 with a .452 batting average and also owns the top mark in the conference in runs scored (1.06 per game), hits (1.48 per game) and on base percentage (.527).

Vesely, a finalist for USA Softball Player of the Year, is also leading the Big 12 in doubles (13) and is second only to Dickson in hits (1.40 per game), batting average (.447) and on base percentage (.514).  Additionally, the senior ranks in the top 10 of 11 different OU career charts and has already tied a single season career high with 39 RBI on the year.

Former three-time All-American Carey led the Sooners to the 2000 National Championship with a two-run home run in the national title game to give the Sooners the decisive 3-1 lead over UCLA.  The first baseman was a three-time first team All-Midwest Region selection and a four-time All-Big 12 honoree for the Sooners.

Dickson and Vesely will join the 2006 Sooner team this Wednesday in its quest for a sweep of the Bedlam Series as the Sooners and Cowgirls will meet at 7 p.m. Wednesday night at the OU Softball Complex.  The game will broadcast within the state of Oklahoma by Cox (Channel 7 in OKC/Metro area) with Brian Brinkley on play-by-play and Kenny Mossman on color.
