NORMAN, Okla. - The University of Oklahoma softball team defeated Seminole State in commanding fashion by a final score of 21-3 Friday evening at the OU Softball Complex. Admission donations and concession proceeds from tonight's game benefited the Mariee Mena Memorial Fund.

Senior Lindsey Vandever brought in the first two runs for the Sooners on a two RBI single, later stealing home to add yet another run. Vandever would finish the game 3-for-4 with eight RBI and a huge grand slam in the bottom of the seventh.

Freshman catcher Jessica Shults had a big night, going 2-for-2 with a double in the second and a two-run blast in the fourth. Junior Chana’e Jones went a perfect 3-for-3 on the night with three singles, with junior Wendy Trott adding three RBI on a fourth inning double.

Freshman Keilani Ricketts pitched 3.2 innings giving up only one hit and striking out four. Fellow freshman Michelle Gascoigne recorded three strikeouts in 1.1 innings, leaving sophomore Kirsten Allen to finish the game with two strikeouts and no hits.

Fans can still contribute donations to the Mena Fund at next Wednesday's contest or by mail to the University of Oklahoma Athletics Development at 180 West Brooks, Suite 3575, Norman, OK 73019.  Please make checks payable to the OU Foundation and reference Mariee Mena.  For more information or to donate by phone, please call the Sooner Club at (405) 325-8000.
