NORMAN, Okla. The University of Oklahoma women's golf team placed fourth Sunday with a score of 900 (+36) at the Lady Northern Intercollegiate in Columbus, Ohio. The Sooners shot a 305 and finished with a three-round total of 900 (+36), seven strokes behind tournament champion Texas. The 15-team field played at the 6,037-yard, par-72 Ohio State University Scarlet Golf Course.
Senior Lisa Meldrum tied for first and played in a three-way playoff for first place. Janice Olivencia of Texas won the playoff after beating Lisa Meldrum on the second playoff hole. Ohio State's Allison Hanna was eliminated after the first playoff hole. Meldrum recorded a final-round 73 (+1) for a total of 218 (+2) .
Sophomore Amparo Gala tied for 11th after shooting a 79 (+7) Sunday for a total of 226 (+10). Junior Emily Milberger posted a final-round 79 (+7) to tie for 18th place with 229 (+13) total strokes. Senior Hope Edge finished 21st with a score of 231 (+15) after recording a 78(+6) in the final round. Freshman Jaclyn Stelzer, competing in her first collegiate tournament, tied for 28th place and shot a third-round 75 (+3) for a total of 234 (+18). Sophomore Cathryn Uselton recorded an 82 (+10) today and finished tied for 75th with 250 (+34) total strokes.
The Sooners will return to action Oct. 6 at the New Mexico State University Invitational in Las Cruces, N.M.
