NORMAN, Okla. -- The University of Oklahoma women’s golf team will tee off Friday, March 16 in its third tournament of the spring at the 54-hole Betsy Rawls Invitational. The tournament will be played on the par-72, 6,323-yard University of Texas Golf Club course in Austin, Texas.
The Sooners are coming off their sixth top-10 finish this season at the "Mo" Morial Invitational last week. OU looks to continue its recent string of success with a lineup featuring Heather Wright, Chelsey Collins, Kelly Jacques, Megan Goodwin and Kendall Dye. Jaclyn Stelzer and Andrea Sellmeyer will compete unattached from team scoring.
"We are looking forward to competing in this field this weekend," OU head coach Carol Ludvigson said. "Having Kendall back in the lineup should help us continue to improve."
OU will face a three top-30 squads in a 14-team field consisting of Arkansas (No. 25), Baylor, Iowa, Iowa State, Kansas, Minnesota, Nebraska, Notre Dame, Penn State, Purdue (No. 15), SMU, TCU (No. 28) and Texas.
"This might be our only chance to beat some of the teams in this field," Ludvigson said. "We have a lot of work to do but our destiny is in our own hands."
OU will begin first-round action Friday at 8 a.m. The second round of tournament play will continue Saturday and conclude with the final round Sunday.
