NORMAN, Okla. - Oklahoma scored on a penalty kick in the fourth minute of play and never looked back in a 2-0 win over TCU at John Crain Field on Friday evening.
The Sooners (9-2-0, 2-0-0 Big 12) notched their seventh-straight home win and boosted their record to 13-1-1 in Norman over the past two seasons. TCU fell to 2-7-4.
Senior forward Krissy Dawson (Peoria, Ariz.) booted in the first goal on a penalty kick at 3:05 after a TCU defender dropped junior forward Logan Womack (Norman, Okla.). Dawson would go on to take three shots for the game with two on goal. The score was Dawson's seventh of the season.
In the 35th minute, OU's freshman connection from Tulsa hooked up for the second score of the night. Midfielder Lauren MacIver, out of Jenks High School in Tulsa, crossed the ball to Becky Nelson, from Tulsa Union, who punched it in off TCU keeper Christina Bobb to put the Sooners up for good, 2-0.
The Sooners compiled 19 shots with five on goal for the evening. TCU had four shots but didn't threaten the goal.
TCU amassed 19 fouls to Oklahoma's 12 and three yellow cards were handed out: one to OU and two to the Horned Frogs.
The win over TCU improves Oklahoma's 2002 non-conference record to 6-2. The Sooners will finish the season with eight consecutive Big 12 matchups, starting at Iowa State on Sunday at 1 p.m.
Oklahoma returns home to host Missouri on Friday, Oct. 11 at 7 p.m. at John Crain Field.
