PREVIEWING OKLAHOMA
The Sooners enter 2010-11 following back-to-back trips to the Final Four. OU returns eight letterwinners from the squad, including three starters, and introduces six newcomers. Oklahoma was picked by the league's coaches to finish third in the Big 12 Conference this season.

Preseason All-American Danielle Robinson leads the team after a standout junior season in which she averaged 16.8 points and 5.3 assists.

Redshirt sophomore Whitney Hand, who suffered an ACL injury five games into the 2009-10 season is expected back on court in January 2011.

The Sooners introduce six newcomers, including high school All-Americans Aaryn Ellenberg and Nicole Griffin.

In the Polls
The Sooners are No. 11 in both the Associated Press and USA Today/ESPN Coaches' Polls this week.

Oklahoma has remained in the Top 25 of both polls since the beginning of 2005-06 season, a total of 97 weeks in the AP poll and 94 in the coaches' (including preseason polls).

Oklahoma highest ranking in either poll is No. 2, which it was ranked following the 2002 season and for a few weeks in 2008-09. The Sooners ended the past two seasons at No. 4 and No. 3.

Team Votes Captains for 2010-11
Redshirt-sophomore Whitney Hand and seniors Danielle Robinson and Carlee Roethlisberger are co-captains of the Sooners this season. The captains were voted by their teammates.

D-Rob's Preseason Honors
Senior guard Danielle Robinson has been touted as the game's top point guard this season, and the watch lists have given notice as she appears as a candidate for virtually every award.

 Sooner to Watch

Joanna McFarland | So. | Center
McFarland is nearly averaging a double-double for the Sooners despite playing under 20 minutes per game in non-conference play. McFarland earned all-tournament honors in OU's Basketball Travelers Invitational last week after collecting career highs in points and rebounds. The 6-foot-2 center will have an advantage in the paint against Sam Houston State as only one post player on the Bearkats roster can match her height.

Possession Obsession
Oklahoma's defense stifled its first four opponents, forcing more turnovers from each than allowing field goals. In the opening four-game span, OU forced 99 opponent turnovers and allowed just 68 field goals.

Though OU hasn't pulled the feat in its last two games, this season, the Sooners have scored 169 points off turnovers, 32 percent of their total scoring (522 points). OU has allowed just 115 field goals and forced 131 turnovers.

Ellenberg Rolls Doubles
Aaryn Ellenberg became the second Sooner freshman under Sherri Coale to reach double figure scoring in her first four college games. The other was Courtney Paris, whose consecutive double-figure scoring streak reached an NCAA record 120 games.

Danielle Robinson and Amanda Thompson each started their careers with three double-digit scoring totals.

Robinson Takes Over
Oklahoma's Danielle Robinson was the season's first Big 12 Women's Basketball Player of the Week and made a case for week two with a second straight 20-point performance against Western Illinois.

Robinson had the best first half of her college career with 18 points in the opening period. The senior guard took over with five minutes before halftime, scoring 12 consecutive for OU off three steal-to-fast break layup conversions, four free throws and a good jumper.

Against Milwaukee in OU's first game, the preseason All-America candidate scored 16 of her 20 after halftime as Oklahoma wrestled a three-point advantage to a 17-point victory. During one stretch early in the second period, Robinson scored 14 of 16 Sooner points and counted the assist on the field goal that wasn't hers.

In the Basketball Travelers Invitational, Robinson earned MVP honors after averaging 20.0 points per game.

Freshmen Combo Makes Noise
Freshmen guards Aaryn Ellenberg and Morgan Hook had impressive collegiate debuts for the Sooners in their win at Milwaukee.

The duo combined for 27 points, the most for a pair of OU freshmen in a single game since Danielle Robinson (20) and Carlee Roethlisberger (eight) scored 28 against South Carolina on Dec. 30, 2007.

Since then, each had made at least one 3-pointer a game and they have combined for 29 percent of OU's total offensive output.
