NORMAN, Okla. The University of Oklahoma women's golf team is in first place with a 598 (+22) at the Price's Give Em Five Intercollegiate in Las Cruces, N.M. The Sooners shot a second-round 305 and lead second-place Louisiana State by four strokes heading into final-round play.
Leading the Sooner squad is senior Hope Edge who is tied for third place after carding a second-round 76 (+4) for a total of 148 (+4). Sophomore Amparo Gala trails Edge by one stroke and is currently in seventh place after shooting a 74 (+2) today. Senior Lisa Meldrum is tied for ninth after recording a 78 (+6) to bring her two-round total to 150 (+6). Junior Emily Milberger shot a second-round 77 (+5) and is tied for 25th with a 153 (+9). Freshman Jaclyn Stelzer is tied for 31st after carding an 80 (+8) for a two-round score of 154 (+10). Freshman Alana Donaldson is competing as an individual and is currently tied for 57th with a total of 162 (+18) after recording a second-round 81.
The 16-team field is playing at the 6,319-yard, par-72 New Mexico State University Golf Course. The final 18 holes of the tournament will be played Wednesday with an 8 a.m., shotgun start.
