NORMAN, Okla. - The University of Oklahoma women's soccer team went to double overtime for the second consecutive game but, this time, OU came up short as Big 12 foe Iowa State defeated the Sooners, 3-2, in front of 221 fans in Ames, Iowa.

The loss dropped OU to 7-6-1 overall and 2-3-1 in the conference while the Cyclones improved to 6-7-1 and 2-4.

ISU got on the board first at the 15:16 mark on Katie Antongiovanni's header off a corner kick by Krista Odenwald. OU tied the game in the 51st minute when sophomore forward Heather Martinelli scored off a rebound shot by junior forward Jonette Coquat.

Iowa State reclaimed the lead in the 64th minute after Odenwald netted the ball in the from the right side. Nicole Wilcox was credited with the assist as ISU took the 2-1 lead. The Sooners tied it again when sophomore forward Shannon Wing registered her third goal of the year at 82:30. She was assisted by senior defender Bridgette Smith.

The game carried into the second overtime before ISU's Wilcox notched the game-winner, in the 115th minute, when she headed in a Haley Francis cross.

"This was the first time all year I saw us make some critical mistakes on defense," said Oklahoma Head Coach Randy Evans. "There was a very strong wind throughout the game. They were able to score their second goal into the wind and that hurt us."

The Sooners played two full overtimes against Baylor in their last contest before settling for a 0-0 tie in Norman a week ago.

Up next for Oklahoma is a date with second-ranked Nebraska on Sunday at 1 p.m. in Lincoln, Neb. After that game, the Sooners come home to face Big 12 rival Texas A&M on Friday, Oct. 20, at 7 p.m. at the OU Soccer Complex.
