NORMAN, Okla.- OU head coach Carol Ludvigson’s Sooners return to action on Feb. 8-10 at the Lady Puerto Rico Classic in Rio Grande, Puerto Rico.  Purdue University will host the three-round tournament at the par-72, 6,219-yard Coco Beach Resort.
“This course is notorious for wind and lots of it,” Ludvigson said.  “So hitting a low ball and working on our shots into the green will be very important.  We are hoping that we put a really good score on the board in the opening round because when we start well we seem to finish it off well too.”
This marks the sixth consecutive trip to the Lady Puerto Rico for the Sooners, with a strong 11th place finish out of 18 teams in 2008, 6th place in 2007, 10th place in 2006, 11th place in 2005, an impressive 3rd place in 2004 and 12th place in 2004.
The Sooners will compete against Florida State, Georgia, Indiana, Iowa State, Kent State, Michigan, Minnesota, N.C. State, New Mexico, Northwestern, Purdue, TCU, Tennessee, Texas Tech and Wisconsin.

Seniors Kendall Dye and Staci Smoot, juniors Chelsey Collins and Andrea Sellmeyer, sophomore Ellen Mueller and freshman Brooke Collins will be representing the Sooners in Puerto Rico.
“We are so blessed to have so much depth,” Ludvigson said.  “We are excited about our lineup and since it is so different than in the fall we are excited to see what we can accomplish.”
Tee time begins at 8 a.m. on Sunday and Monday, and on 7:30a.m. on Tuesday with 18 holes played each day.

Kendall Dye: completed her 100th round as a Sooner at the Kent Youel Invitational
Staci Smoot: last competed individually at the Price’s “Give ‘Em Five” Invitational
Chelsey Collins: returns to action since the Windy City Collegiate Classic
Andrea Sellmeyer: first tournament since the season-opener Ron Moore Women’s Intercollegiate
Ellen Mueller: nabbed her second career top-five finish (3rd place) at the Windy City Collegiate
