NORMAN, Okla. - OU senior Alesha Peel must really like the Oklahoma Track Classic. For the second year, the Tulsa hurdler posted an NCAA provisional qualifying mark in the Oklahoma Track Classic, hosted by the Sooners on Saturday at the Mosier Indoor Facility.

Peel, who had the best time entering the final, took the lead out of the blocks and beat Christine Ohaeri of Texas A&M by .04 seconds. Peel finished with an 8.33 and Ohaeri had an 8.37. Both times passed the NCAA Provisional Qualifying mark.

The 8.33 by Peel was just .01 off her best time of the season last year.

A total of 14 other athletes broke NCAA Provisional marks in the one-day meet. A total of 12 meet records were set, including the time by Peel, and four facility marks were changed.

Peel was joined in the winner circle by teammates Sand Swaby, who won the high jump, and Kyle Bookout, who took the shot put. Several Sooners were held out of the meet after the first week of formal practice and will return to competition next weekend.

The Sooners will travel to the Razorback Classic next weekend before returning home to host the inaugural J.D. Martin Invitational on Feb. 3.
