Women's Golf Team Claims Third Place At Bruin Classic

NORMAN, Okla. - The University of Oklahoma women's golf team took third place at the Pioneer Electronic Bruin Classic in Menifee, Calif., on Tuesday. The No. 27 Sooners tied with 25th-ranked New Mexico with a score of 908. No. 20 Pepperdine defended its tournament title by 25 strokes. The 16-team tournament was played at the par-72 Menifee Lakes Country Club.

Sophomore Lisa Meldrum shot a four-over-par 220 to take third place. Junior Allison Johnson tied for sixth place with a score of 223 and a career low of 68 in the second round. Placing 32nd was senior Jennifer Tannehill who carded a 230, while sophomore Hope Edge placed 41st as an individual. Trailing Tannehill by five strokes was freshman Emily Milberger shooting a 235 to tie for 47th place and senior Wendy Martin tied for 65th place with a score of 241.

The Sooner's next competition will be on March 19-20 at the Dr. Thompson Wahine Invitational in Honolulu, Hawaii.
