CORAL GABLES, Fla. -- The 18th-ranked University of Oklahoma volleyball team made quick work of Florida A&M Friday afternoon at the Hurricane Invitational. The Sooners (8-1) needed just over an hour to sweep the Rattlers (-11, -12, -12). Oklahoma hit .449 for the match, its highest ever during the rally scoring era.

Senior Caitlin Higgins led OU with her second double-double of the season. Higgins’ 10 kills and 10 digs led an OU team that committed just five total attack errors. Sophomore Keila Rodriguez made her first start of the year and dropped seven kills and added a service ace in the win. A trio of Sooners – Suzy Boulavsky, Sallie McLaurin and Maria Fernanda had two service aces each as OU recorded eight as a team.

A total of 14 players saw action in the one hour, five minute match that Oklahoma controlled from the opening serve. The Sooners recorded an 83 percent sideout percentage, including an 11-for-12 mark (91 percent) in the third set. Oklahoma hit above .415 in every set and held the Lady Rattlers to a .036 clip on the afternoon.

Boulavsky added five kills, while McLaurin had four. Brianne Barker led with 16 assists, and freshman Kaitlyn Drawe saw playing time, registering six assists in two sets played. Fernanda also added 10 digs, tying Higgins for the match high. OU out-blocked the Lady Rattlers 7.0-2.0. Boulavsky led the front line defense with four block assists.

Katherine Huanec led Florida A&M (0-6) with seven kills. Diana Gonzales had 13 assists, and Karol Marquez and Marija Jovanovic added six digs each.

The Sooners close out the Hurricane Invitational tomorrow with a pair of matches. OU faces Auburn at 9 a.m. CT and closes out the event against Miami at 6 p.m. CT. GameTracker and a webcast of both matches are available at SoonerSports.com.
