NORMAN, Okla. - University of Oklahoma women's golfer Ellen Mueller was named to the 2009-10 All-Big 12 Team Wednesday.

The All-Big 12 selection, Mueller’s first, came two days after the junior received an invitation to play in the 2010 NCAA West Regional in Stanford, Calif.

“It’s such an honor for Ellen to be named to the All-Big 12 Team,” said OU head coach Veronique Drouin. “She has a great work ethic and is very deserving of the award.”

The 2010 All-Big 12 Team was identified by using the 10 highest-ranked student-athletes in the Golfweek/Sagarin rankings following the Big 12 Championship.

Oklahoma State sophomore Caroline Hedwall took Player of the Year honors for the second straight season and Texas A&M’s Julia Boland earned the Newcomer of the Year award. A&M’s Trelle McCombs was named Big 12 Coach of the Year in a vote by the league’s head coaches.

Mueller finished in the top 25 of all 12 OU tournaments in 2009-10. She posted six top-10 finishes and four top-five finishes. Mueller currently boasts a 74.47 season stroke average, a program best.

Mueller will compete in the NCAA West Regional May 6-8.  The 54-hole tournament will be held at the Stanford Golf Course.
