TUCSON, Ariz. -- The OU women's golf squad travels to Tucson, Ariz., this weekend to compete in the ninth annual Mountain View Classic at the par-72, 6,178 yard Mountain View Golf Club.
The University of Colorado will host the 15-team field that includes 10 squads currently ranked in GolfWeek’s top-60 .
"This is a very tough tournament and will be a vital one for us and our head to head within our region," said head coach Carol Ludvigson. "There are many teams that this will be our only chance to see until regionals."
The Sooners are coming off of a seventh place finish at the Betsy Rawls Longhorn Invitational last weekend. OU shot a 70-over par 934 (316-306-312).
Freshman Andrea Sellmeyer (McAlester, Okla.) shot a career-best 11-over par 227 (78-69-80) to finish in 13th place (also marking a collegiate best). Her second-round 3-under-par 69 tied for the eighth lowest round in OU women's golf history.
Competing for Oklahoma will be Sellmeyer, Chelsey Collins, Megan Goodwin, Kelly Jacques and Heather Wright. Sophomore Kendall Dye is competing as an individual.
"This is a different line up but it shows our incredible depth," added Ludvigson. "I am looking forward to low scores and the chance to see who needs to fill our lineup for the future."
OU has finished in the top-10 in seven of eight tournaments on the year.
The teams will play 36-holes on Saturday and 18 on Sunday. Tee times are set for 9 a.m. (CT) on both days. Visit SoonerSports.com for a complete recap of each day of play.
