Dye Leads OU in New Mexico

NORMAN, Okla.-- The University of Oklahoma women's golf team completed second-round play in Las Cruces, N.M., in the "Price's Give 'Em Five"/ New Mexico State University Invitational on Tuesday. The Sooners shot a 316, putting them in 16th place with a two-round 633 (+57). OU is 39 strokes behind first-place Missouri.

Sophomore Kendall Dye improved on her Monday round and stands in 35th place after shooting a 75 (+3).  She is at 154 through two rounds.

"It has been a tough tournament," OU head coach Carol Ludvigson said. "But I think through it all, it will be a good one to help us see what we need to work on. We are looking forward to finishing tomorrow with a great score."

Junior Kelly Jacques shot seven over par in the second round with a 79, earning a spot in 51st place at 157 strokes.  Seniors Jaclyn Stelzer and Megan Goodwin share a spot in 74th place at 163. In the second round, Stelzer carded an 81 (+9) and Goodwin shot an 86 (+14). Sophomore Staci Smoot posted rounds of 81(+9) and 82 (+10). Her score of 165 puts her in a tie for 81st.

Missouri jumped to steal lead from San Jose State today after shooting  a second-round 292. The Tigers are at 594 through 36 holes. Other Big 12 schools in the tournament include Baylor (fifth), Kansas State (10th), Colorado (12th) and Kansas (14th).

The 17-team field will play the final 18 holes Wednesday beginning at 9 a.m.CDT at the par-72, 6,319-yard New Mexico State University Golf Course.
