The Oklahoma women’s golf team finished in 12th place at the SunTrust Lady Gator Invitational in Gainesville, Fla. The 13th-ranked Sooners recorded a final-round 317 (+37) to finish with a tournament total of 954 (+114). Tournament champion and No. 1-ranked Duke finished with a total of 878 (+38) and outpaced the entire field by 33 strokes.
The tournament was held at the 5,773-yard, par-70 University of Florida Golf Course and featured nine teams ranked in the top-25, including seven of the top-10 individual golfers in the country.
Senior Hope Edge was the top-finishing Sooner for the first time this season. Edge carded a two-over-par 72, her season-low, to finish tied for 16th with a tournament total of 231 (+21). Freshman Alana Donaldson, playing as an individual, and sophomore Amparo Gala tied for 49th with three-round totals of 239 (+29). Donaldson carded a third-round 81 (+11) while reigning Big 12 Golfer of the Month Gala shot a final round 79 (+9).
Senior Lisa Meldrum earned a tournament total of 241 (+31) after shooting a final-round 83 (+13) to finish tied for 57th. Junior Emily Milberger recorded an 83 (+13) for the second consecutive day and tied for 63rd with a 243 (+33). Sophomore Cathryn Uselton shot a final-round 83 (+13), 10 strokes better than the previous round, and earned 82nd place with a 257 (+47).
The Sooners next tournament is March 21-23 at the Betsy Rawls Longhorn Classic in Austin, Texas.
