NORMAN, Okla. – The University of Oklahoma women’s golf team recorded a final-round 306 (+18) at the Windy City Collegiate in Glenview, Ill., Tuesday to finish in 13th place.  OU shot a three-round 911 (+47) on The Glen Club’s 6,539-yard, par-72 layout.

Purdue won the team title by 14 strokes over second-place Tulane.  The Boilermakers’ Maude-Aimee LeBlanc (-5) took home medalist honors.

“This week’s field was a strong one,” OU head coach Vernoique Drouin said.  “We realize we still have a lot of work to do, but we are definitely moving in the right direction.”

OU’s Ellen Mueller made three birdies and fired a final-round 73 (-1) Tuesday for a three-round 218 (+2).  The junior tied for ninth, giving her five career top-10 finishes (two this season).  Freshman Taylor Schmidt also performed well in her second collegiate tournament, shooting a final-round 75 (+3) for a three-round total of 224 (+8) and a 23rd-place tie.

“Ellen had another solid performance this week and it was also great to see one of our freshmen step up,” Drouin said. “Taylor played well considering she was injured.”

Making her season debut, Kelly Short tied for 47th with a three-round 230 (+14).  The sophomore recorded two birdies on the day en route to a final-round 76 (+3).  Fellow sophomore Brooke Collins carded a third-round 82 (+9) for a three-round 239 (+23) to finish in 73rd place, while freshman Aly Seng shot a final-round 86 (+14) to finish in 80th place.
